Women's Bodies As A Vessel
"Women's bodies are the ultimate vessel. Our bodies were made for creation in every sense. The mind, body, and spirit are highly connected."
Welcome back everyone! Last episode, we talked about what it means to "Become Fully Feminine" - went into all that it entails and mentioned that this episode, we would be diving deeper into the body part of the "mind-body-spirit connection" since that will be the majority of this podcast, honestly. Because that is my specialty. We are taking women's bodies being the physical expression of the ... not-so-physical.
Women's bodies are the ultimate vessel. Our bodies were made for creation in every sense. The mind, body, and spirit are highly connected.
Think about when you dislike or distrust someone. You can feel it in your bones. When are heartbroken, it cuts you to your core. When you see God's hand in your life -- you are light as a feather. We can feel these things on a physical level in our bodies.
As a dietitian nutritionist, I have been taught about the body in a more Western-traditional sense. Most women I meet don't consider the body-mind connection as a way of your physical being trying to tell you a story.
In the past few years, I have spoken with sooooo many women (and men!) about their lives and their health. I have done so much research of my own - both professionally and with my own health journey. The conglomeration of everything I have learned has lead to many new beliefs. One of which is that bodies - especially the female body - is telling a narrative of what could be deeper than the physical. Start by reading "the Body Keeps the Score". I'm talking about gut issues, chronic stress, adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, PCOS, autoimmunity, and a crashed metabolic system.
These issues don't just randomly form on a Tuesday, ladies. They are a collective of life's decisions, emotions, habits, heartbreaks, anxieties, deficiencies, and hurriedness.
Did you know that women were biologically designed for creation? What does that even mean?
Women were built for creation but creation first needs safety. Our bodies need to feel safe.
As women, we are more intuitive than we could ever imagine. I think some of the intuition has been morphed, scattered, or fractured by modern society. But anyways, this is by design. Our bodies, unlike men, feel everything. This is the missing puzzle piece that so many of us women are searching for when we think of "why is ___ happening to my body?" - why is my hair falling out, why is my cortisol high, why have I gained midsection weight, why are my periods prolonged from starting regularly?
That missing piece is often filled with business, more exercise, supplement, trying new programs, etc.
Our "becoming feminine journey" start with us knowing that our body's and soul's greatest desire is to be known and safe. Today we are talking about being safe. Being known is more mind and spirit which we will go over in another episode.
What you need to know today is that your body's physical health relies on feeling safe.
So, how can we feel safe? Think about feeling calm, not as anxious, not feeling the need to be busy, clear minded, regular menstrual cycles, etc. are signs you feel safe. Practically, regular means that are balances, eating enough calories, not intermittent fasting in child bearing years, sleep, boundaries, creativity, nourishment.
How do we know if we aren't safe? hair loss, poor digestion, shortness of breath, unknown anxiety source, feeling hurried all of the time, phone addiction, dopamine addiction, pointing out problems where they don't really exist, bloating, thyroid issues, high cortisol of course, spotting days before your period instead of fully starting your period, in some cases - infertility.
How we change of narrative?
Well, things take time first and foremost. Stop thinking that everything will change for you in a month or a few weeks. It's taken decades to get to where you are so we need to think of this as a process rather than a destination.
We will go over cortisol and insulin fundamentals because outside of emotional safety - those are most important. Did you almost forget that this is a women's health podcast that does actually have a scientific connection? I hope you did. Because it's always deeper than just "hormones, physical things, and food". There is always bigger purpose. What is the point of health if we don't have a bigger purpose tied to it?
"There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophy." - Friedrich Nietzsche. (Nee-Chuh)
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (19th century) was a German philosopher whose work explored ideas of religion, morality, and science. His philosophy is often described as “individual, freedom, choice, authenticity”. His writings centered on the concepts of good and evil, and the potential end of religion in the modern world.
